These terms cover your use of the TakeCut mobile app and the services behind it —
automatic video editing, captioning, and rendering. By creating an account or
using TakeCut, you're agreeing to them. Read alongside our
Privacy Policy, which explains what data TakeCut collects and why.
01 Accepting these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and TakeCut governing your access to and use of the TakeCut app and any related services (together, the "Service"). By downloading, creating an account with, or otherwise using TakeCut, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
02 The service
TakeCut lets you upload or record raw video, and automatically cuts silence, filler words, and bad takes, then burns in captions, producing a finished edited video you can export and share. Some features — like eye-contact correction — are optional and clearly marked as such in the app.
TakeCut is a tool. You're responsible for the footage you feed into it and for what you do with the videos it produces.
03 Eligibility & accounts
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, if higher) to use TakeCut. If you're under the age of majority where you live, you confirm you have a parent or guardian's permission to use the Service.
You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that happens under your account. Let us know right away if you believe your account has been compromised.
04 Subscriptions, trials & billing
TakeCut offers subscription plans billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Current plans:

New subscribers get a 3-day free trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, it converts automatically into a paid subscription at the price shown for the plan you selected.
Auto-renewal: subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless canceled at least 24 hours before the period ends.
Cancellation: manage or cancel your subscription anytime through your Apple ID or Google Play account settings — TakeCut can't cancel it for you from inside the app, since Apple and Google control billing.
Payment: your payment method is charged by Apple or Google, per your device's account settings. TakeCut never sees or stores your card details.
Refunds: refund requests are handled by Apple or Google under their own refund policies, not directly by TakeCut.
Price changes: if we change subscription pricing, we'll give existing subscribers advance notice before it takes effect on their next renewal, as required by the App Store or Play Store.
05 Your content
You retain all ownership rights to the raw footage you upload and the videos TakeCut produces for you ("Your Content"). You're not granting TakeCut any rights to use Your Content for our own purposes beyond what's needed to operate the Service.
By uploading Your Content, you grant TakeCut a limited license to store, process, transmit, and display it solely to provide the editing, captioning, and rendering features you request — including sending it to the specific third-party processors described in our Privacy Policy (like transcription for captions).
You confirm that you own or have the necessary rights to any footage you upload, and that it doesn't violate anyone else's rights or any law.
06 Acceptable use
You agree not to use TakeCut to:
Upload or process content that is illegal, infringing, defamatory, or that you don't have the rights to.
Upload content depicting or sexualizing minors, or any other content that exploits or endangers anyone.
Impersonate another person, or create misleading deepfake-style content intended to deceive.
Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to TakeCut's systems.
Use the Service in a way that violates any applicable law.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.
07 Our intellectual property
The TakeCut app, its branding, and its underlying software are owned by TakeCut and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. These Terms don't grant you any rights to TakeCut's own trademarks, logos, or source code — only a personal, non-transferable license to use the app as intended.
08 Third-party services
TakeCut relies on third-party providers — for transcription, optional AI video processing, storage, sign-in, and subscription billing — described in detail in our Privacy Policy. Your use of those integrated features is also subject to those providers' own terms where applicable (for example, Apple's or Google's app store terms govern your purchase).
09 Suspension & termination
You can stop using TakeCut and delete your account at any time from Settings in the app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, misuse the Service, or if we discontinue the Service generally — where practical, we'll try to give you notice first.
Deleting your account deletes your stored videos and account data, as described in our Privacy Policy. Amounts already paid for the current billing period are not refunded by TakeCut directly; contact Apple or Google for refund requests.
10 Disclaimers
TakeCut is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that automatic edits will always meet your expectations — you should review edited output before publishing or sharing it.
11 Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, TakeCut and its operators won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid TakeCut in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations on liability, so some of the above limits may not apply to you.
12 Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where local consumer-protection law requires otherwise. If a dispute arises, we encourage you to contact us first so we can try to resolve it directly.
13 Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as TakeCut evolves. If we make a material change, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use TakeCut after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
